Leia the bride

Hi hi!

A few weeks ago, I did hair and makeup for a lovely bride - Leia, who hired me for the day to be her personal makeup artist and hair stylist.  During the entire day I took some snaps on my lovely old Nikon D60 which is what I use to shoot all of my random shoots (because I can't afford to upgrade) with a 35mm 1.8f nikkor lens (borrowed from my awesome photographer friend Willis).

The day started at 5am at Leia and Jason's house where I started makeup on Leia's 4 bridesmaids.  Turns out, all of the bridal party plus bride and groom were all pharmacist! And let me tell you- when all pharmacist get together- we talk about pharmacy, and make lame pharmacy jokes hehe, so it was pretty easy to get to know all of the girls.
At 9am the groom and his men came to the house for the very fun and funny 'door games' in which the groom and his men have to persuade and bribe the bridesmaids to let them in so that the groom can collect his bride.  I didn't get to have a good look as I was still doing makeup on Leia's mum, but as they managed to get past the first few barriers (leg waxing, putting makeup on eachother, dancing, and after many red packets) they finally retrieve Leia who is waiting in her room.  These games are hilarious and so much fun!

We then head over to Jason's parent's house to start the traditional tea ceremony and it was so emotional and just beautiful.  After this, I then changed Leia's hair and makeup and she changed into her white gown.  After lunch we headed over to the Stamford hotel where the civil ceremony was held and afterward, the wedding photographer lead the bridal party over to the botanic gardens (walking distance from Stamford) for the garden photos.  After a short break, and a final change in hair and dress- I finished my duties for the day and have these lovely photos to remind me of the day :)

Alice's next chapter

Howdy everyone :)

I have a handful of some very amazing friends and I love to feature them in photo shoots.  In my eyes, I would always pick QUALITY of friends over quantity- and this is why I have such amazing people in my life.

So today's post will be of my amazing friend Alice (old work colleague of mine) who I did a photo shoot for quite a while back.  This photo shoot was to symbolize her new found freedom and to celebrate the next chapter in her life after having gone through a tough time in her life.  She is now happier than I have ever seen her and more radiant than ever :)

Alice is the type of girl who is absolutely beautiful and charismatic- and just about everyone loves her.  When we worked together, people would get us mixed up so we started saying we were twins (which was very flattering to me :)) - I saw Alice go through a lot during the time we worked together- I saw all of her emotions and there was even one point where she changed from the sweet caring Alice, to a bitter Alice, which stunned us all- but after a trip to Korea with her cousin- she explained to me that it was this moment as she was walking outside, the snow started to fall and with the falling snow- her sorrows were also washed away...

It's about time

Hi All!

So I've been meaning to do up my blog page for quite some time, but have been procrastinating for the longest.  Story of my life really :p

Firstly, this blog is created so that I can share my work with anyone who is interested in makeup, eyelashes, beauty and photography.  I do all of the above.  I just love beauty! Whether it be enhancing someone's beauty or capturing beauty through lens- I am all for it! I guess the reason why I started doing makeup was because I loved the way it made people feel confident about themselves. And now I continue to focus on makeup and also eyelashes because seeing people transform and feel good about themselves makes me feel happy too :) (yes, I tend to reiterate things frequently)

I guess I really should have started this blog when I stopped working in my main job (as a pharmacist) which is when I became more proactive with the beauty side of things.  I still love pharmacy and probably will go back and do some locum work possible 1-2 days a week just so that I can supplement my makeup and lash spendings :D seriously its a massive addiction and I might even go do some online window shopping soon haha.

So, I guess I don't have much else to talk about right this very moment and will post some photos up of recent work- Oh yeah did I mention I do mainly bridal work - I just LOVE weddings! I don't even mind waking up at 2am, which isn't often though (one time I didnt even sleep because I went to an event the night before~ rebel, I know!) because it honestly doesn't feel like a job to me.

Okay enough jibber jabber- here are some photos to start off.  Hope you enjoy :) p.s If you would like any extra details on photographers or hairstylist etc, please feel free to email me on sarahthong.makeupartist@gmail.com, but all details that I know of will be written below photos - Cheers
