Sarah B Beauty Photo Shoot

I have recently done a photo shoot with one of my regular clients Sarah, who is a model that I have worked with on a few photo shoots in the past.  Previously, I have done makeup for Sarah when shooting with my photographer friend Willis, however this time Sarah and I organized just a fun little shoot ourselves so that we could both use for building our portfolios.

Sarah is such a gorgeous girl and is the most easiest and fun model to work with, and she has had plenty of experience in modelling so that made my job a lot easier.  We started the day with hair and makeup at my studio, then decided to try some shadow and light photos which actually turned out quite nice.  Once it got a little warmer outside, we ventured our way to a park that had plenty of greenery and interesting structures and continued to take the remainder of our pictures there.

All hair, makeup, photography, styling and editing is done by me.  If you haven't seen more of my makeup and beauty work, then please visit my website www.sarahthong.com.au

Until next time (which will probably be next week- as I have a shoot with Willis scheduled) I hope you enjoy the photos :)

Leia the bride

Hi hi!

A few weeks ago, I did hair and makeup for a lovely bride - Leia, who hired me for the day to be her personal makeup artist and hair stylist.  During the entire day I took some snaps on my lovely old Nikon D60 which is what I use to shoot all of my random shoots (because I can't afford to upgrade) with a 35mm 1.8f nikkor lens (borrowed from my awesome photographer friend Willis).

The day started at 5am at Leia and Jason's house where I started makeup on Leia's 4 bridesmaids.  Turns out, all of the bridal party plus bride and groom were all pharmacist! And let me tell you- when all pharmacist get together- we talk about pharmacy, and make lame pharmacy jokes hehe, so it was pretty easy to get to know all of the girls.
At 9am the groom and his men came to the house for the very fun and funny 'door games' in which the groom and his men have to persuade and bribe the bridesmaids to let them in so that the groom can collect his bride.  I didn't get to have a good look as I was still doing makeup on Leia's mum, but as they managed to get past the first few barriers (leg waxing, putting makeup on eachother, dancing, and after many red packets) they finally retrieve Leia who is waiting in her room.  These games are hilarious and so much fun!

We then head over to Jason's parent's house to start the traditional tea ceremony and it was so emotional and just beautiful.  After this, I then changed Leia's hair and makeup and she changed into her white gown.  After lunch we headed over to the Stamford hotel where the civil ceremony was held and afterward, the wedding photographer lead the bridal party over to the botanic gardens (walking distance from Stamford) for the garden photos.  After a short break, and a final change in hair and dress- I finished my duties for the day and have these lovely photos to remind me of the day :)

Alice's next chapter

Howdy everyone :)

I have a handful of some very amazing friends and I love to feature them in photo shoots.  In my eyes, I would always pick QUALITY of friends over quantity- and this is why I have such amazing people in my life.

So today's post will be of my amazing friend Alice (old work colleague of mine) who I did a photo shoot for quite a while back.  This photo shoot was to symbolize her new found freedom and to celebrate the next chapter in her life after having gone through a tough time in her life.  She is now happier than I have ever seen her and more radiant than ever :)

Alice is the type of girl who is absolutely beautiful and charismatic- and just about everyone loves her.  When we worked together, people would get us mixed up so we started saying we were twins (which was very flattering to me :)) - I saw Alice go through a lot during the time we worked together- I saw all of her emotions and there was even one point where she changed from the sweet caring Alice, to a bitter Alice, which stunned us all- but after a trip to Korea with her cousin- she explained to me that it was this moment as she was walking outside, the snow started to fall and with the falling snow- her sorrows were also washed away...
